Galeries Tower Stuns Unbeaten Nxled In Statement Win

Galeries Tower Highrisers picked the perfect moment to bounce back — and they did it against the last team anyone expected.
The Highrisers shocked previously unbeaten Nxled Chameleons, 25-19, 17-25, 25-20, 25-21, Thursday night in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference at the FilOil Playtime Centre.
Coming off a straight-sets loss to Farm Fresh, Galeries Tower entered the match determined. Nxled, meanwhile, came in undefeated and brimming with confidence. By the end of the one-hour, 53-minute clash, it was the Highrisers celebrating a statement victory — their second in four games and first multi-win conference since 2024.
Middle blocker Rose Baliton led the charge with 16 points, including seven huge blocks that disrupted Nxled’s rhythm all night. She was named Best Player of the Game after anchoring a defense that produced 13 blocks compared to Nxled’s three.
Erika Deloria also delivered 16 points and seven excellent receptions, while Gayle Pascual and Jean Asis chipped in 13 and 12, respectively. Though Erika Raagas finished with just four markers, her two late hits in the fourth set proved decisive.
Nxled tried to rally behind Brooke Van Sickle, who scored 21 points, and Chiara Permentilla, who added 16 off the bench. But Galeries Tower’s net defense limited key weapons like Lyann De Guzman and Myla Pablo, never allowing the Chameleons to fully regain control.
After Nxled erased a 17-13 deficit in the fourth set to tie it at 18, the Highrisers refused to panic. Deloria struck off an out-of-system play, Baliton delivered two crucial blocks, and Raagas finished it off with a thunderous hit that sealed the upset.
