Gatchalian Restores Order As Senate Reaches Quorum

The Senate was officially able to proceed with its session on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, after newly elected Senate President Pro Tempore Sherwin Gatchalian confirmed the presence of a quorum in the chamber.
The development came after former Senate President Francis Escudero arrived at the plenary session, helping complete the required number of senators to formally conduct business.
With quorum established, proceedings were able to move forward as scheduled, allowing the chamber to resume legislative work following earlier uncertainty over attendance.
Senator Sherwin Gatchalian, who had just assumed the role of Senate President Pro Tempore, presided over the confirmation of quorum, signalling the Senate’s return to full working order for the day.
