GSIS Rolls Out P19 Billion Cash Boost Through Refund Program
FILE
The Government Service Insurance System is set to release over P19 billion to more than 1.37 million members and pensioners under its Balik Ginhawa program—and this time, the relief comes as cash refunds.
Instead of pausing loan payments like a typical moratorium, GSIS is taking a different route. The agency will continue collecting monthly amortizations but will return up to three months’ worth of payments in one lump sum—giving members immediate financial breathing room.
According to GSIS data, monthly loan payments range from P4,000 to P39,000. That means qualified members could receive refunds of around P12,000 to as much as P117,000, depending on their loan size and payments made.
The program covers payments made from December 2025 to February 2026, so the actual refund will depend on how many payments a borrower completed during that period.
GSIS President and General Manager Wick Veloso said the move is designed to be more responsive to members’ needs, offering direct and immediate support rather than delayed relief.
There’s a catch, though—only those who actually made loan payments during the covered months are eligible for the refund. Members or pensioners who didn’t pay during that time won’t qualify.
For those who did, the program essentially turns past payments into instant cash—just when it could matter most.
