Residents near the Hijo River in Barangay Limbo, Maco, Davao de Oro are on alert after heavy rains on Friday, February 20, 2026, caused the river to rise significantly.
A video shared online by netizen Jemarie P. Amorte showed muddy waters surging along the riverbanks, nearing nearby communities. “Situation in Hijo river alongside Limbo, Maco, Ddo.. Coming soon to the villages. Keep Safe everyone ky naga ulan pa,” Amorte warned.
Continuous rainfall has raised fears of flooding, especially for low-lying households near the river. While no official evacuation order had been issued at the time, residents were urged to stay vigilant, prepare emergency kits, and monitor updates from authorities.
