More than 3,500 Filipinos have already received government assistance through the House of Representatives’ Suporta sa Bayan Desk (SBD), with over P171 million released during its first 50 days of operation.

According to an accomplishment report covering March 18 to June 22, 2026, the SBD processed 3,738 requests for assistance. Of these, 3,592 applications were approved, translating to a 96-percent approval rate.

The desk handled 3,103 requests from walk-in applicants and another 635 endorsed by members of the House of Representatives. During the period, it served an average of 72 clients daily and approved assistance worth P175.8 million, with P171.5 million already released to beneficiaries.

Speaker of the House Faustino Dy III said the figures represent more than just statistics.

“Every single one of those 3,592 approvals is a Filipino family that didn’t have to go home empty-handed, patients who can now afford their medicines, their dialysis, their operation,” Speaker Dy noted.

“Kapag may lumalapit sa gobyerno na nangangailangan ng tulong, hindi dapat sila pinapahirapan. Ang gusto natin ay mas mabilis, mas maayos, at mas makataong serbisyo. Iyan ang layunin ng Suporta sa Bayan Desk,” he said.

“When we established the Suporta sa Bayan Desk, we said this House would be a House of the People — ‘Alagang Kongreso’ — and in 50 days, PHP 171 million in real help was delivered to many of our kababayan who are in need. That is what public service looks like,” he added.

The Suporta sa Bayan Desk was launched on March 17 and officially began operations the following day under the leadership of Speaker Dy and House Majority Leader Ferdinand Alexander Marcos of Ilocos Norte.

Designed as a one-stop assistance center, the desk helps applicants complete documentary requirements before their requests are endorsed to partner agencies, primarily the Department of Health (DOH) and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

For Majority Leader Marcos, the high approval rate shows that Congress can play a more direct role in delivering social services to the public.

“A 96-percent approval rate is not just a statistic — it is a guarantee that when someone who needs help enters the doors of SBD, they leave with a fighting chance,” Marcos said.

“The achievement of SBD in its first 50 days of operation underscores the solid commitment of the House of Representatives to making government aid faster, more compassionate, and more accessible to our people,” he added.

The number of people served steadily grew during the desk’s first months of operation. Records show that 507 clients were assisted in March, followed by 1,138 in April, 1,008 in May, and 939 during the first 22 days of June.

Most of the approved requests, totaling 2,376, were processed through the DOH, while 1,216 were facilitated through the DSWD.

The assistance covered a wide range of needs, including hospital bills, medicines, laboratory tests, chemotherapy treatments and medicines, dialysis and hemodialysis sessions, medical implants and devices, surgeries, therapy, cash assistance, and funeral support.

House officials emphasized that the SBD does not replace existing government aid programs. Instead, it serves as a coordination and pre-processing hub that helps applicants navigate the requirements needed to access assistance more efficiently.

The desk operates on a first-come, first-served basis from Monday to Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., or until all clients in line have been accommodated.

Speaker Dy said the House leadership plans to further strengthen the initiative so that more Filipinos can access government assistance without unnecessary delays.

“As long as there are Filipinos seeking assistance, the House will continue to find ways to serve them better. The Suporta sa Bayan Desk is proof that when government institutions work together, we can provide faster, more meaningful support to our people,” Dy said.
