House Explains Delay In Sara Duterte Impeachment Transmittal

The House of Representatives on Tuesday clarified that the Articles of Impeachment against Vice President Sara Duterte are still being prepared for formal submission to the Senate due to the massive volume of documents involved.
In a statement, House Secretary General Cheloy Velicaria-Garafil said the House Secretariat is currently reproducing and organizing the impeachment documents and supporting attachments before they are transmitted.
“As to the status of the transmittal of the Articles of Impeachment against Vice President Sara Z. Duterte, the House of Representatives Secretariat is reproducing copies for submission to the Senate,” Garafil said.
She explained that the impeachment records contain thousands of pages that need to be carefully reproduced, collated, and reviewed to make sure every copy matches the version approved by the House.
“The Articles of Impeachment and their attachments, which number in the thousands of pages, are currently being reproduced, collated, and checked to ensure that all copies are appropriately organized to ensure that each copy is a faithful reproduction of what was approved by the House of Representatives,” she said.
Garafil stressed that ensuring the accuracy and completeness of the documents remains the top priority of the House Secretariat before the materials are officially turned over to the Senate.
“The accuracy of our submission is our paramount concern,” she added.
