House Pushes Probe Into Alleged Philippine Links To Jeffrey Epstein
Epstein File
MANILA, Philippines — Gabriela Women’s Party Representative Sarah Elago, together with members of the Makabayan Bloc, has filed House Resolution 762 to investigate potential Philippine-based operations connected to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
The resolution seeks to examine reports that individuals or firms in the Philippines may have been engaged to perform digital reputation management and other online activities for Epstein, particularly after his conviction.
According to the resolution, email exchanges from the so-called “Epstein Files” suggest that a Philippines-based team may have been involved in improving Epstein’s online image and suppressing negative content. While these reports raise concerns, no official findings have confirmed wrongdoing in the Philippines, and the investigation is intended to determine the scope and nature of any involvement.
The resolution emphasizes the need to assess potential vulnerabilities in the Philippines regarding trafficking, online sexual abuse, and exploitation of children, as well as other forms of gender-based violence. Lawmakers hope the inquiry will identify gaps in existing laws and inter-agency coordination to better protect women and children from exploitation.
The Gabriela Women’s Party framed the resolution as part of a broader effort to strengthen safeguards against abuse and ensure that the Philippines does not become indirectly involved in crimes against women and children worldwide.
