Impeachment Vote Still Wide Open

The impeachment battle in the Senate remains far from decided as the latest vote tally under Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano shows a tight and unpredictable race.
Current estimates show seven senators leaning toward conviction, while five are expected to vote for acquittal. However, the biggest factor in the case may still come from the 12 senators who remain undecided and could swing the final outcome either way.
With the numbers still shifting, political observers say the impeachment proceedings are entering a crucial stage as both sides continue to lobby for support inside the Senate.
Under Article XI, Section 3(6) of the 1987 Constitution, the Senate has the sole power to try and decide impeachment cases. Conviction requires at least two-thirds of ALL Senate members, or 16 votes.
As of now, neither side is close to securing the required number, making the undecided bloc the key to determining whether the impeachment complaint will prosper or fail.
The coming days are expected to intensify political negotiations and public scrutiny as senators weigh both legal arguments and political consequences before casting their final votes.
