A Regional Trial Court in Pasay City has issued a warrant of arrest against Jose Yumang Sonza, also known as Jay Sonza, over a cyber-related case involving alleged unlawful statements.

The warrant, issued by Branch 118, shows that Sonza is facing charges for unlawful use of means of publication and unlawful utterances under Article 154 of the Revised Penal Code, in relation to the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.

Authorities have been directed to locate and arrest Sonza, who is reportedly linked to an address in Bansalan, Davao del Sur, and bring him before the court.

The document also indicates that the offense is classified as not bailable, meaning the accused may remain in custody while the case proceeds, unless the court rules otherwise.

In line with Supreme Court rules, law enforcement officers carrying out the arrest are required to use body-worn cameras or other recording devices to ensure proper documentation of the operation.

The case reflects how existing laws on publication and speech are being applied to online platforms, where statements made on the internet can now lead to criminal charges.
