Jordan Heading may have led TNT in scoring, but the Tropang 5G guard believes his biggest contribution in Game 4 of the PBA Season 50 Commissioner’s Cup Finals was making sure his teammates got involved.
Heading erupted for a team-high 29 points as TNT defeated Barangay Ginebra, 106-98, on Wednesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, tying the championship series at two games apiece.
But beyond his scoring output, Heading showcased his all-around game by dishing out eight assists, helping create opportunities for key teammates when it mattered most.
He credited both Chris McCullough and Calvin Oftana for stepping up during crucial stretches of the game.
Heading said giving the ball to McCullough in favorable situations made the TNT import even more dangerous offensively, while Oftana continued to prove why he is one of the team's most reliable weapons.
The teamwork paid off. McCullough finished with an impressive double-double of 24 points and 14 rebounds, while Oftana chipped in 12 points to help fuel TNT’s bounce-back victory.
Despite his standout performance, Heading was quick to return the credit to his teammates, saying they also did a great job finding him in spots where he could be effective offensively.
The win breathed new life into the series after TNT managed to level the Finals at 2-2, setting the stage for a pivotal Game 5.
With momentum now on their side, Heading and the Tropang 5G will try to move one step closer to the championship when they face Ginebra again on Friday at the Araneta Coliseum, where the winner will take a crucial 3-2 series lead in the best-of-seven title showdown.
