Madriaga's Claims Backfire As Duterte Camp Welcomes Scrutiny

The camp of Vice President Sara Duterte is turning the tables on critic Ramil Madriaga, saying his latest handwritten letter only strengthens their defense rather than weakens it.
In a statement, lawyer Salvador Paolo Panelo Jr. said Madriaga’s allegations — including a supposed secret term-sharing deal, a plot to remove the President, and even assassination claims against Ferdinand Marcos Jr. — are “pure fiction” and far from believable.
Panelo didn’t hold back, saying the Duterte camp is more than ready to dismantle each accusation with evidence if needed — something he claims Madriaga has consistently failed to present.
He added that calls to have Madriaga testify could actually work against him, as it may only highlight what they describe as his lack of credibility. According to Panelo, Madriaga has already begun undermining his own claims even before facing questioning under oath at the House Committee on Justice.
For Duterte’s camp, the message is clear: the more Madriaga speaks, the more their confidence grows.
