Marcos Jokes, Jumps To Prove Health Amid Rumors

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Monday sought to dismiss circulating rumors about his health, even going as far as performing jumping jacks in front of the media during an appearance in Malacañang.

Facing reporters on April 13, the President addressed recent online speculation about his condition, which he said had been exaggerated and, in some cases, misleading. Before reading his official statement, Marcos lightened the mood by doing brief physical exercises in front of the press.

“I challenge anyone who are saying that I am sick.”

He also challenged critics who questioned his fitness, jokingly inviting them to a gym session to compare strength and endurance.

The President emphasized that he remains physically active and continues to maintain a regular health routine, including frequent exercise and medical checkups. He also clarified that his last hospital visit was for a CAT scan related to diverticulitis, which he said has since improved.

Marcos added that he undergoes routine medical testing and has returned to a normal diet after previous dietary adjustments due to his condition. He noted that he exercises about four times a week to maintain fitness.

He further said he currently takes only two maintenance medications—one for gout and another for hypertension.

The public appearance comes amid a wave of online discussions and edited videos circulating on social media questioning whether recent footage of the President had been altered or artificially generated. Malacañang has not confirmed any manipulation claims but continues to release official recordings of presidential engagements.

By personally addressing the rumors in a public setting, Marcos aimed to reassure the public of his condition while underscoring that he remains active in performing his duties.
