Marcos Leads Independence Day Rites At Rizal Park

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. led the Philippines' 128th Independence Day celebration on Friday morning, June 12, with a flag-raising and wreath-laying ceremony at the Jose Rizal National Monument in Rizal Park, Manila.
The President was joined by National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) Chair Regalado Trota Jose Jr. and Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief of Staff General Romeo S. Brawner Jr. during the commemorative event.
Also present were Acting Senate President Sherwin Gatchalian, Manila Mayor Francisco Domagoso, members of the First Family, Cabinet officials, members of the Diplomatic Corps, and representatives from the Boy Scouts of the Philippines and the Girl Scouts of the Philippines.
The ceremony formed part of the country's observance of the 128th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence, honoring the nation's struggle for freedom and the sacrifices of Filipino heroes.
The annual Independence Day rites at Rizal Park remain one of the country's most significant national events, drawing government leaders, civic groups, and citizens in remembrance of the historic declaration of Philippine independence on June 12, 1898.
