A leading Singapore telecommunications company has reaffirmed its commitment to expanding investments in the Philippines, signaling continued confidence in the country's growing digital economy during a meeting with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
The meeting took place during the President's working visit to Singapore from July 14 to 16, where officials discussed efforts to accelerate the country's digital transformation and strengthen its technology infrastructure.
Singtel Group said it plans to continue investing in telecommunications, digital services, and data center projects that are expected to generate high-value jobs and boost the Philippines' digital capabilities.
During the meeting, Singtel Group CEO Yuen Kuan Moon, Globe Telecom President and CEO Carl Cruz, and Ayala Corporation Vice Chairman Fernando Zobel de Ayala highlighted the group's expanding footprint in the country.
Among the key developments is the creation of NCS Philippines, a joint venture between Singtel's technology arm, NCS, and Globe's digital solutions company, Yondu. The partnership has significantly expanded NCS' local workforce from 150 to 1,200 professionals, strengthening its expertise in digital technologies, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence.
The company also showcased the expansion of its data center business through ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC), including the newly opened STT Fairview facility in Quezon City and the ongoing development of STT Cavite 2. These projects are expected to further position the Philippines as an emerging hub for digital infrastructure in the region.
Singtel said it remains committed to expanding its investments and operations in the country, noting that its continued presence reflects Singapore's confidence in the Philippine economy and its long-term growth potential.
Company executives also reaffirmed their support for Globe Telecom as it continues to strengthen its network infrastructure to meet the increasing demand for digital connectivity and services nationwide.
