A major fire that broke out in Lower Barangay San Antonio, Parañaque City has displaced hundreds of families and caused significant damage in a densely populated residential area, prompting an ongoing relief response from local authorities and volunteers.

Initial reports from the Bureau of Fire Protection indicate that the blaze affected around 600 families or approximately 1,800 residents. The fire quickly spread through a community largely composed of light-material homes and reached Task Force Alpha status before being brought under control after several hours of firefighting operations.

Authorities reported that around 300 houses were damaged or destroyed, forcing residents to evacuate immediately. Many families are now temporarily staying in evacuation centers, including San Antonio Elementary School, which has been opened to accommodate displaced residents.

No fatalities have been reported, though some individuals sustained minor injuries during the incident and evacuation. Officials are still conducting a full assessment of the damage while investigation into the cause of the fire continues.

Parañaque City Vice Mayor Benjo Bernabe visited the affected area and evacuation centers, where he expressed concern over the situation of displaced families now struggling to recover.

“It’s devastating to see that so many people lost their homes to a fire incident that occurred last night at Barangay San Antonio Lower Barangay,” Bernabe said, as he noted the urgency of providing support to affected residents.

He also emphasized the need for broader assistance beyond the local government.

“The City Government will do everything we can but we can’t do it alone, we hope you too can help,” he said, calling on the public and donors to extend aid.

Relief operations are ongoing, with the city government and volunteers distributing food packs, clean water, clothing, and hygiene kits to affected families as recovery efforts begin.

Authorities have yet to determine the cause of the fire as investigations continue in the area.
