MCIA Soars High As Cebu's Gateway Named Among Asia Pacific's Best Airports

Travelers have spoken, and the verdict is in. Mactan-Cebu International Airport is now officially one of the best airports in the Asia-Pacific region.
Airport operator Aboitiz InfraCapital announced Thursday that MCIA earned a spot among the Best Airports in Asia Pacific in the 5–15 million passengers category of the 2025 Airport Service Quality Customer Experience Awards.
For MCIA Chief Executive Officer Athanasios Titonis, the recognition carries special meaning. He said the award reflects the genuine voice of passengers — the very people the airport serves every day. In short, this is not just an industry citation. It is a travelers’ choice award backed by real feedback.
The Airport Service Quality program is a global benchmarking initiative that measures passenger satisfaction in real time while travelers are still at the airport. For 2025 alone, nearly 707,000 passengers worldwide participated in the survey organized by the Airports Council International World.
That makes MCIA’s recognition even more significant. The results are based on actual traveler experiences, from check-in and security to cleanliness, comfort, and overall service.
The awarding ceremony will be held during the ACI World Airport Experience Summit in Istanbul, Türkiye, from August 31 to September 4.
Titonis said the recognition affirms the dedication of the entire airport community in delivering Cebuano warmth and world-class hospitality. He emphasized that the honor belongs to everyone working behind the scenes to make each passenger’s journey smooth and memorable.
ACI World Director General Justin Erbacci also welcomed the recognition, saying the award demonstrates the trust travelers place in MCIA and reinforces its position as one of the region’s top airports for customer experience excellence.
Meanwhile, Mactan-Cebu International Airport Authority General Manager Julius Neri Jr. said the airport remains committed to elevating operational standards and setting new benchmarks for efficiency. As Cebu continues to grow as a global destination, he said MCIA is ready to meet the rising demand.
