Meralco Bills To Increase This July
File
Customers of Manila Electric Company (Meralco) can expect higher electricity bills this July after the power distributor announced an increase in its residential electricity rates.

Meralco said electricity rates will go up by ₱0.34 per kilowatt-hour (kWh), which means households consuming around 200 kWh may see an increase of about ₱69 in their monthly bill.

The company attributed the higher rates primarily to an increase in the generation charge, driven by higher fuel costs in the power supply market. Transmission charges also posted an increase during the billing period.

Despite the adjustment, Meralco noted that the collection of the Green Energy Auction Allowance (GEAA) remains suspended until August, in compliance with the directive of the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC).
