Manila Electric Company (Meralco) is accelerating infrastructure upgrades across its franchise area to support the Philippines’ growing electricity demand driven by expanding communities and commercial hubs.

The country’s largest power distributor recently energized several projects in Mega Manila and growth areas in Bulacan, Cavite, and Laguna, including new transmission lines and upgraded substations designed to improve reliability and system stability.

Among the projects completed are the Cruz-Na-Daan–Alagao 69-kilovolt line in Bulacan and upgrades to key substations in Caloocan, Cavite, and Laguna, helping deliver more stable electricity to residential communities and major industrial customers.

Looking ahead, Meralco is preparing a proposed ₱272-billion capital program for 2026 to 2030 to strengthen the grid, integrate renewable energy, and modernize operations. The plan includes new substations, expanded operating centers, and the rollout of millions of smart meters to improve real-time monitoring and outage response.

“These investments are critical to Meralco’s mandate to deliver high-quality, reliable, and stable electricity service, enabling us to meet growing and evolving power requirements and support the country’s economic progress,” Meralco Senior Vice President and Head of Regulatory Management Office Atty. Jose Ronald V. Valles said.
