Meralco, One Meralco Foundation Rush Relief And Power Support To Quake-Hit Mindanao

Manila Electric Company (Meralco), led by businessman Manuel V. Pangilinan, has stepped up relief efforts for communities devastated by the recent powerful earthquake in Southern Mindanao.
Through its corporate social responsibility arm, One Meralco Foundation (OMF), the company has begun distributing essential supplies to affected residents in General Santos City, Sarangani, and nearby areas as part of its immediate humanitarian response.
Relief operations include the delivery of food packs, bottled and potable drinking water, as well as solar lanterns to help families cope with power interruptions and displacement caused by the disaster.
Meralco and OMF are also working with local partners to ensure assistance reaches evacuation centers, hospitals, and communities in urgent need of support.
Among the first recipients of aid are several medical facilities serving earthquake victims, including St. Elizabeth Hospital and Socsargen County Hospital, which requested drinking water and other critical supplies. Additional relief packages are also being prepared for affected coastal communities, particularly in Glan, Sarangani.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Southern Mindanao, especially the families, communities, health workers, emergency responders, and utility personnel affected by this earthquake,” said Meralco Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Ronnie L. Aperocho.
He emphasized that the spirit of bayanihan becomes even more important during times of crisis, adding that Meralco and OMF remain committed to helping affected communities recover from the disaster.
Beyond humanitarian assistance, Meralco has also extended support to the power sector in the quake-hit region.
