The Manila Electric Company (Meralco) has once again landed on the global stage after securing a Grand Stevie along with 11 additional awards at the Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards held in Macao, China.

The company, led by Manuel V. Pangilinan, was recognized for its efforts across sustainability, innovation, and social impact. In total, Meralco took home five Gold, one Silver, and five Bronze Stevies—marking one of its strongest performances yet in the regional awards.

At the heart of its win is the campaign “No One Left in the Dark: How Meralco Brought 24/7 Sustainable Power to Cagbalete Island,” which earned the Grand Stevie as the highest-rated entry among leading countries. The project focused on delivering reliable and sustainable electricity to off-grid communities in Cagbalete Island, pushing forward inclusive development through clean energy.

The same initiative also secured two Gold awards, highlighting Meralco’s continued push to expand electricity access in underserved areas. Another Gold Stevie went to its “One Meralco Integrated Report 2024,” recognized for combining financial and sustainability reporting into a single, streamlined document.

Individual recognitions also boosted the company’s tally. Senior Vice President and Chief Audit Executive Melanie T. Oteyza was named Thought Leader of the Year for her role in advancing internal audit practices and leadership.

“Earning this recognition is a powerful reminder of why purposeful leadership matters, and I am honored to bring this award home to Meralco as we remain committed to building a future defined by trust, accountability, and positive impact. This honor reinforces my dedication to driving thought leadership that transforms progress in our region through risk consciousness, digital preparedness, and inclusive leadership,” Oteyza said.

Meanwhile, Meralco First Vice President and Chief Sustainability Officer Raymond B. Ravelo was named Climate Hero of the Year for the third straight year—another Gold Stevie—recognized for pushing sustainability deeper into the company’s operations and long-term strategy.

“This honor is a tribute to the nearly 20,000 women and men of One Meralco who work tirelessly not only to keep the lights on for over eight million customers, but also to power a cleaner, more inclusive future for our nation. This recognition fuels our resolve to keep advancing—as a power company and as a partner in building sustainable progress for all,” Ravelo, for his part, said.
Beyond the Gold wins, Meralco also earned a Silver Stevie for its “Greening the Network” campaign, which focuses on modernizing infrastructure through renewable energy and sustainable solutions.
Five Bronze Stevies were also awarded to campaigns highlighting the company’s brand and community efforts, including “Liwanag Park 2025: A Brighter Christmas for All,” which delivered immersive public experiences, and initiatives supporting electrification and education through partnerships and outreach programs.

This year’s awards drew more than 1,000 entries from 29 markets, covering over 150 categories—placing Meralco among the region’s most recognized companies for innovation and impact.
