The National Museum of the Philippines (NMP) has officially opened its newest regional component museum in Baler, Aurora, giving residents and visitors a new space to explore the province's rich history, culture, and natural heritage.
The museum was inaugurated on June 30, becoming the first National Museum component museum in Central Luzon and bringing the total number of National Museums across the country to 22.
The Department of Tourism (DOT) congratulated the National Museum on the opening, recognizing it as another step in preserving and showcasing Aurora's cultural and historical heritage.
According to the National Museum, NMP-Baler is part of its continuing efforts to make its collections, educational programs, and public services more accessible to communities throughout the country.
Visitors can explore galleries featuring Aurora's history, cultural traditions, biodiversity, and artistic heritage. The museum also showcases exhibits on the Philippines' historical ties with Spain, along with selected works from the National Fine Arts Collection.
The inauguration coincided with the observance of the 24th Philippine-Spanish Friendship Day and was attended by First Son Vincent Marcos, Philippine government officials, representatives of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Spain in the Philippines, and institutional partners.
Beginning July 1, NMP-Baler is open to the public free of charge every day from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
