One Last Dance for Former Cignal Stars

The Cignal HD Spikers may already be heading in different directions, but several of its former players are set to reunite one final time at the 2026 Volleyball All-Star Showcase.
It will not be in the familiar setup they once shared, though. Instead of playing side by side, the former teammates will compete on opposite squads while trying to make the emotional moment meaningful.
Erika Santos, Gel Cayuna, Dawn Catindig, and Vanie Gandler are set to play for Team Heart, while Jackie Acuña will suit up for Team Hustle.
The exhibition match suddenly carries deeper meaning following the team’s recent breakup. Just days earlier, Cignal finished runner-up in the 2026 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference before players later learned that the squad would be going on leave.
Despite the situation, the players remain focused on giving fans an entertaining match and making the most of their final shared appearance on the court.
Several members of the former squad also reflected on the opportunities and growth they experienced during their time with the franchise.
Cayuna expressed gratitude to Cignal for taking a chance on her even during uncertain moments in her career, while Gandler said the friendships and bond she built with her teammates became the most meaningful part of her journey with the team.
Acuña also looked back appreciatively on how the organization opened doors for her and allowed her to grow despite having limited exposure during her college career.
For some players, the reality of the team’s separation still has not fully settled in, with Santos admitting that the situation remains difficult to process.
