The Department of Foreign Affairs has advised the public of possible delays in the release of new passports due to ongoing supply chain and production issues affecting ePassport processing.
According to the DFA, applicants who submitted passport applications beginning the last week of March 2026 may experience longer waiting times as delays have affected the production and delivery of passports.
The agency noted that the release of new passports may take around 10 to 15 working days or longer, depending on the situation, as it continues to coordinate with its ePassport service provider to address the backlog and restore normal processing.
The DFA assured the public that it is closely monitoring the situation and is taking steps to minimize disruption to consular services. It added that global supply chain constraints affecting the production and delivery of materials used in passport printing have contributed to the delays.
Despite the slowdown, the department continues to process applications and encourages the public to allow additional time for the release of passports while the issue is being resolved.
For urgent or emergency concerns, applicants are advised to coordinate with the DFA Office of Consular Affairs for proper guidance and assistance during the delay period.
