Residents of Oriental Mindoro are expected to benefit from improved healthcare services after the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office turned over ₱18.2 million worth of medical equipment and financial assistance to the provincial government.
The assistance package, intended to strengthen operations at the Oriental Mindoro Provincial Hospital, includes a digital X-ray machine, five ventilators, and eight electrocardiogram (ECG) units that will help improve emergency and critical care services for patients in the province.
The turnover ceremony in Calapan City was led by PCSO General Manager Melquiades Robles together with Oriental Mindoro Governor Humerlito Dolor.
Aside from the medical equipment valued at ₱18 million, the PCSO also released ₱247,486.75 representing the province’s Lotto LGU share, which local officials said would provide additional support for programs and public services.
The assistance forms part of the agency’s continuing nationwide effort to improve healthcare access in underserved areas and provide provincial hospitals with modern medical equipment and additional funding support.
Robles emphasized the importance of helping communities and strengthening healthcare facilities outside major cities as demand for public health services continues to grow across the country.
For his part, Governor Dolor welcomed the assistance and said the additional equipment would directly benefit patients while helping improve the province’s healthcare system.
The latest turnover also supports the broader healthcare initiative of the administration of Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to expand and decentralize access to quality public healthcare services.
According to the PCSO, similar medical assistance and equipment turnover programs are continuing in different provinces as part of the agency’s effort to transform lottery revenues into healthcare support for Filipino communities.
