The Philippine government is looking to deepen its partnership with Canadian cybersecurity company BlackBerry as part of its efforts to strengthen the country's digital security and modernize government communications.

Finance Secretary Frederick D. Go and Trade Secretary Ma. Cristina A. Roque recently met with officials from BlackBerry to discuss how the company's cybersecurity technologies could further support the Philippines' growing digital infrastructure.

Known for providing secure communication solutions to governments and businesses for more than four decades, BlackBerry already works with several Philippine government agencies and local organizations. Its technologies include AtHoc, a platform used for crisis alerts and emergency coordination, SecuSUITE, which provides encrypted calls and messaging for secure communications, and Unified Endpoint Management (UEM), a system designed to protect and manage mobile devices.

During the meeting, both sides explored ways to expand the use of these security solutions, particularly in enhancing national security, improving disaster response, and protecting sensitive government communications from cyber threats.

The discussions reflect the government's continuing push to strengthen the country's cybersecurity capabilities while building a more secure and resilient digital ecosystem for both the public and private sectors.
