The Philippines took center stage during the ASEAN Business and Media Exchange 2026 Executive Dialogue in Cebu City as government and industry leaders highlighted the country’s growing role as an investment and manufacturing hub in Southeast Asia.
Trade Secretary Cris A. Roque emphasized the country’s ongoing efforts to strengthen trade partnerships, improve supply chain resilience, and create more opportunities for sustainable and inclusive economic growth.
He also highlighted government programs aimed at giving businesses and stakeholders better access to financing and expanded loan assistance.
The executive dialogue, held alongside activities for the 48th ASEAN Summit, showcased the Philippines’ push for economic transformation through innovation, policy reforms, and stronger regional cooperation.
Veteran broadcaster Cathy Yang of Cignal TV also led discussions on emerging industries, particularly the country’s expanding electric vehicle sector and the future of sustainable mobility in the region.
Joining the discussion were Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation President and CEO Ritsu Imaeda and Toyota Motor Philippines First Vice President for Vehicle Sales Elijah Sue C. Marcial, as industry leaders explored opportunities across the electric vehicle value chain amid the growing demand for cleaner transportation in Southeast Asia.
The event further reinforced the Philippines’ goal of positioning itself as a key player in regional trade, manufacturing, and next-generation industries under the ASEAN 2026 agenda.
