The Philippines has secured a major funding boost from Australia aimed at strengthening small businesses, supporting economic reforms, and creating more formal jobs for Filipinos.

The Department of Finance (DOF) announced it has obtained up to AUD 45 million, or roughly ₱1.8 billion, under a new partnership with Australia. The funding will support the Promoting Growth, Resilience, Economic Stability and Sustainability in the Philippines (PROGRESS) program.

PROGRESS serves as Australia’s flagship initiative in the country, designed to help drive policy reforms while promoting inclusive and resilient economic growth. The program is expected to benefit key sectors, particularly small and medium enterprises (SMEs), which play a crucial role in job generation.

With the DOF leading the effort, implementation will be carried out in close coordination with the Australian Embassy and other partner agencies to ensure that projects deliver measurable results.

Officials say the grant will help accelerate reforms that encourage investments, improve economic stability, and expand opportunities for Filipinos to access more secure and formal employment.

The partnership also highlights the growing economic cooperation between the Philippines and Australia, with both sides working toward long-term, sustainable development.
