PhilHealth has officially regained ₱60 billion previously transferred to the National Treasury, with the funds now expected to strengthen healthcare services and improve benefits for millions of Filipinos.
The return of the funds followed a directive from Ferdinand Marcos Jr., as PhilHealth moves to expand and improve its healthcare programs nationwide.
In a statement released Wednesday, PhilHealth said the restored funding would be used to enhance member benefits, improve internal systems, speed up processes, and deliver more reliable healthcare services to the public.
The agency also acknowledged the role of the Department of Finance for facilitating the immediate remittance of the amount back to the state insurer.
PhilHealth emphasized that the funds would be directed toward strengthening its mandate of providing accessible and dependable healthcare support for Filipinos, especially those in need of medical assistance.
The development comes amid continuing calls for better healthcare coverage and faster services for members, with many hoping the restored budget will translate into more efficient health programs and expanded benefits in the coming months.
