Fresh off a clutch performance, Bernadeth Pons is now officially the PVL Press Corps Player of the Week—and for good reason.

Pons delivered when it mattered most, powering the Creamline Cool Smashers to a thrilling come-from-behind victory over the top-seeded PLDT High Speed Hitters to kick off the 2026 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference semifinals.

With Creamline on the brink, Pons exploded for 28 points in a five-set battle, 22-25, 27-25, 19-25, 28-26, 15-10, in front of 12,411 fans at the Mall of Asia Arena.

She did it all—21 kills, four blocks, and three aces—while anchoring the defense with 22 excellent receptions and 16 digs. Her all-around brilliance helped Creamline secure an early share of the semifinals lead alongside Cignal HD Spikers.

“Alam ko talaga na kaya naming kuhanin yung fourth set… kahit na lumamang sila, kaya naming humabol,” Pons said, pointing to the team’s grit and collective effort.

The award caps off a strong stretch for Pons, who has been stepping up in crucial games. In their knockout Play-In win against the Akari Chargers, she also delivered 13 points and 17 digs to help seal Creamline’s semifinals spot.

Despite missing part of the preliminary round due to a minor injury, Pons has found her rhythm at the perfect time.

“Parang 0-0 ulit pagpasok ng semis. Lahat ng past games, tapos na. Sobrang grateful kami na lumabas yung mga pinag-ensayuhan namin,” she shared.

Pons was a unanimous choice for Player of the Week, beating out big names like Alyssa Valdez, Erika Santos, Vanie Gandler, and Trisha Tubu.

With momentum on their side, the Cool Smashers now set their sights on Cignal HD Spikers as they go for a second win—and inch closer to a finals berth.
