MANILA, Philippines — The local stock market regained momentum on Monday as the PSEi climbed back above the 6,000 level, boosted by renewed buying interest from investors.
The benchmark index closed at 6,009.38, up 47.98 points or 0.80 percent from the previous session, reflecting improved market sentiment despite continued foreign selling.
Trading activity remained active, with total value turnover reaching PHP 5.5 billion. Market breadth was slightly positive as advances edged out decliners, with 104 stocks gaining, 99 declining, and 62 remaining unchanged.
Foreign investors, however, still ended the session as net sellers. Foreign buying reached Php 3.60 billion, while foreign selling stood at Php 3.84 billion, resulting in net foreign selling of Php 238.39 million.
Analysts said the market’s return to the 6,000 territory could signal improving confidence among investors, particularly as traders continue to monitor corporate earnings, inflation trends, and global market developments.
The Philippine market has been moving cautiously in recent weeks amid uncertainty in global equities and expectations surrounding interest rate movements.
