The Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) ended Friday’s trading session in positive territory, giving local investors a modest boost before the weekend.

The benchmark index closed at 5,961.40, up by 40.70 points or 0.69 percent from the previous session, based on data from the Philippine Stock Exchange.

Despite the market’s gains, trading activity remained relatively light, with total value turnover reaching PHP 4.1 billion.

Market breadth slightly favored advancing stocks, with 89 gainers edging out 84 decliners, while 61 issues ended unchanged.
Foreign investors, however, remained net sellers for the day.

Foreign buying totaled Php 2.29 billion, while foreign selling reached Php 2.47 billion, resulting in a net foreign selling position of Php 172.24 million.

The latest climb pushed the PSEi closer to the 6,000 level once again, as investors continued to monitor both global market movements and local economic developments.
