The Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) moved higher on Tuesday, gaining more than 66 points as investors pushed the benchmark closer to the 6,000 level.

At the close of trading on June 9, 2026, the PSEi settled at 5,945.71, up 66.30 points or 1.13 percent from the previous session.

Market activity remained strong, with total traded value reaching ₱9.3 billion.

Despite the index's advance, market breadth was mixed. A total of 82 stocks ended higher, while 96 declined and 64 issues were unchanged.

Foreign investors remained net sellers for the day. Foreign buying amounted to ₱3.10 billion, while foreign selling reached ₱3.25 billion, resulting in net foreign selling of approximately ₱156 million.

The market's positive finish suggests continued investor confidence as the benchmark index inches closer to the key 6,000-point mark, a level closely watched by traders and market participants.

While foreign funds recorded a net outflow during the session, local buying activity helped lift the broader market and keep the index in positive territory.

Investors are expected to continue monitoring economic developments, corporate earnings, and global market trends as trading resumes later this week.
