The Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) took a sharp dive on March 4, 2026, closing at 6,307.84 — down 137.54 points or 2.13 percent. The decline reflects a day of heavy selling as investor caution dominated trading.

Total market turnover reached PHP 8.6 billion, with decliners far outpacing gainers. Only 35 stocks advanced, while 179 fell, and 58 remained unchanged.

Foreign investors pulled back significantly, with Php 4.24 billion in sales against Php 2.93 billion in purchases. This resulted in a net foreign selling of Php 1.31 billion, signaling a cautious stance from overseas market participants.

Despite the broad slide, market watchers note that selective buying in certain sectors may still offer pockets of opportunity.
