The Philippine stock market ended deep in negative territory on Thursday as the benchmark PSEi fell below the 5,900 level amid continued selling pressure from investors.

At the close of trading on May 28, 2026, the PSEi dropped by 103.3 points, or 1.73 percent, to settle at 5,859.94.

Market activity remained relatively active, with total traded value reaching PHP 5.6 billion. Declining stocks heavily outnumbered gainers, with 128 issues falling compared to 61 advancers, while 51 stocks ended unchanged.

Foreign investors also remained net sellers during the session. Foreign buying reached PHP 2.66 billion, while foreign selling climbed to PHP 3.17 billion, resulting in net foreign selling of PHP 517.08 million.

The market’s decline reflects cautious investor sentiment as traders continue to monitor both local and global economic developments affecting equities.
