The Philippine Stock Exchange Index, or PSEi, ended Wednesday’s trading session slightly lower as investors remained cautious despite steady market activity.

The benchmark index closed at 5,893.40, down by 3.4 points or 0.06 percent.

Market sentiment stayed mostly negative, with decliners outnumbering gainers. A total of 111 stocks declined, while 74 advanced and 59 remained unchanged.

Trading value reached Php 5.6 billion for the day.
Foreign investors also remained net sellers, with foreign selling amounting to Php 2.60 billion, slightly higher than foreign buying at Php 2.48 billion. This resulted in net foreign selling of around Php 115.3 million.

Analysts said the market’s muted movement reflects continued investor caution as traders monitor both global economic developments and local market conditions.

Despite the slight drop, the market managed to hold near the 5,900 level, signalling that investors are still watching for possible catalysts that could drive stronger momentum in the coming sessions.
