The Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) ended Wednesday's trading session in positive territory, posting modest gains despite continued net foreign selling.
The benchmark index closed at 6,069.26, rising 32.09 points, or 0.53 percent, as investors continued to pick up select local stocks.
Trading activity reached ₱4.6 billion, reflecting steady market participation throughout the session.
Market breadth, however, remained slightly negative, with 102 stocks declining, compared to 89 gainers, while 61 issues closed unchanged.
Foreign investors remained net sellers for the day. Total foreign buying reached ₱2.75 billion, while foreign selling amounted to ₱2.83 billion, resulting in net foreign selling of ₱79.59 million.
Despite the continued outflow of foreign funds, the PSEi managed to finish in the green, suggesting that buying interest in selected heavyweight stocks helped offset broader market weakness.
Investors are expected to continue monitoring both domestic and global economic developments in the coming sessions, as these remain key drivers of market sentiment.
