PSEi Plunges Nearly 5 Percent, Closes At 6,006

The benchmark index of the Philippine Stock Exchange dropped sharply on Monday, with the Philippine Stock Exchange Index closing at 6,006.22, down 314.19 points or 4.97 percent.
Market activity reached ₱11.0 billion in total value traded during the session. The sell-off was widespread across the market, with 205 stocks declining, compared to only 28 gainers, while 41 issues remained unchanged.
Foreign investors were also net sellers for the day. Foreign buying totaled ₱4.60 billion, while foreign selling reached ₱6.18 billion, resulting in a net foreign outflow of ₱1.58 billion.
The steep drop pushed the index closer to the 6,000 level, reflecting heavy selling pressure across the broader market. Analysts typically watch such movements closely as they may signal shifts in investor sentiment and market direction.
