Qatar Airways Halts Flights Amid Middle East Airspace Closure

Qatar Airways has temporarily suspended all flights after Qatari airspace was closed due to escalating conflict in the Middle East. Operations at Hamad International Airport in Doha remain halted and will resume only once the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority confirms it is safe to fly. Passengers are advised to check flight statuses via the airline’s website or mobile app.
Why Flights Are Grounded
The closure affects more than just Qatar. Several Middle Eastern countries — including Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Bahrain, and the UAE — have restricted or closed airspace following U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran and subsequent retaliatory actions. This has disrupted one of the busiest aviation corridors in the world, forcing airlines to cancel or reroute thousands of flights.
What Passengers Are Experiencing
Delays and cancellations: Tens of thousands of travelers are facing disruptions at major hubs such as Doha, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi.
Refunds and rebooking: Qatar Airways is allowing passengers to refund or change tickets for affected flights.
Global ripple effects: Other international airlines, including Emirates and Etihad, have also cancelled or adjusted flights to avoid the conflict zone.
Aviation experts warn that the situation could persist until airspace safety is assured. Travelers should monitor official airline updates and prepare for possible delays even after flights resume.
