MANILA — Twenty overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) from Qatar have safely returned to the Philippines with assistance from the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), part of the government’s continuing effort to support Filipinos facing difficulties abroad.
The group arrived Tuesday night at NAIA Terminal 3 aboard Qatar Airways flight QR 928, according to a DMW news release issued March 11.
One of the returning workers, Justine Alvaro Panlilio, expressed gratitude after receiving help from the government.
“First time ko na humingi ng tulong sa gobyerno, at tunay na naramdaman ko ang pag-aalaga sa amin,” he said.
Aside from arranging their safe return, the government also provided the workers with initial assistance to help them restart their lives in the Philippines.
The same flight also carried one stranded OFW from Qatar and 16 Filipino seafarers who were able to return home with the help of their recruitment agencies and ship principals.

The DMW said the latest arrivals form part of the government’s broader efforts to assist Filipino workers in the Middle East.
So far, 79 OFWs and 21 dependents have been repatriated from several countries in the region. Thirty one OFWs were from Dubai, 4 from Saudi Arabia, 24 from Oman, and 20 from Qatar.
Among their family members, 3 dependents came from Dubai, 8 from Oman, and 10 from Qatar.
In addition, 553 OFWs and 26 dependents were able to return to the Philippines with the support of their employers, recruitment agencies, and shipowners. Some workers also purchased their own tickets but still received assistance from the government upon arrival.
The repatriation efforts are being carried out in line with the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to ensure faster and more coordinated support for overseas Filipino workers who need assistance abroad.
Officials continue to encourage Filipinos experiencing difficulties overseas to contact the DMW hotline or reach out to Philippine embassies and labor offices for immediate support.
