69% Of Filipinos Favor Impeachment Trial For VP Duterte - OCTA survey

A majority of Filipinos support moving forward with an impeachment trial for Vice President Sara Z. Duterte, according to a recent OCTA Research survey, prompting calls from lawmakers for the process to proceed under constitutional rules.
House Committee on Suffrage and Electoral Reforms Chair Zia Alonto Adiong of Lanao del Sur said the results reflect strong public interest in having the allegations against the Vice President heard in the proper forum.
Adiong, who also serves as Assistant Majority Leader, pointed to the survey finding that 69 percent of respondents support holding a Senate trial or impeachment court proceedings, while 28 percent opposed it and 3 percent remained undecided.
“I hope the Vice President’s legal team will consider addressing all the allegations in the impeachment complaints within the proper forum. The latest survey reflects a clear public signal that Filipinos want these issues answered through the constitutional process now underway in the House Committee on Justice,” Adiong said in a statement.
He added that participation in the proceedings would give the Vice President the opportunity to directly respond to the accusations raised in the complaints.
The OCTA Research survey, released on April 15, was conducted from March 19 to 25, 2026, through face-to-face interviews with 1,200 adult Filipinos nationwide. It carries a ±3 percent margin of error at a 95 percent confidence level.
According to OCTA, awareness of the impeachment case is also high, with 87 percent of respondents saying they are familiar with the issue.
Regional results showed stronger support in the Visayas at 83 percent and the National Capital Region at 81 percent, while Mindanao registered 61 percent.
Adiong stressed that while survey results do not decide the outcome of impeachment proceedings, they highlight continued public attention and expectation for the process to move forward.
