Seven Filipino seafarers were injured after a reported drone attack struck the container ship San Antonio while passing through the Strait of Hormuz on Tuesday, May 5.

According to the Department of Migrant Workers, all seven Filipino crew members survived the incident and are currently receiving treatment at a hospital.

Four of the injured seafarers sustained minor injuries, while three others remain under intensive care, authorities said.

Hans Leo Cacdac said the DMW, through its Migrant Workers Offices, is closely coordinating with hospital authorities to monitor the condition of the injured crew members and ensure they receive proper medical care.

The agency also assured continued assistance for the affected seafarers and their families as the government keeps a close watch on the developing situation in the Middle East.

The reported drone attack adds to growing security concerns in the Strait of Hormuz, considered one of the world’s most critical shipping routes for global trade and oil transport.
