A total of 849 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their dependents have received assistance from the Philippine government between March 5 and March 13, 2026, according to the Department of Migrant Workers.
The agency said the figure includes 795 OFWs and 54 dependents who were either stranded abroad or repatriated from affected areas in the Middle East.
The assistance was provided under the directive of Ferdinand Marcos Jr., who ordered concerned agencies to ensure the protection and safe return of Filipinos working overseas, particularly those facing security risks or humanitarian concerns.
Priority for vulnerable OFWs
Hans Leo Cacdac, secretary of the Department of Migrant Workers, said the government is prioritizing aid for Filipino workers in urgent situations.
“Inuuna ng pamahalaan ang pagtulong sa mga OFW na nasa high-risk areas, may medical needs, o may agarang humanitarian concerns, kasabay ng agarang pag-aayos ng kanilang ligtas na pagbabalik sa Pilipinas,” Cacdac said.
Continued assistance for returning workers
The DMW said the government continues to coordinate efforts to assist stranded OFWs abroad while supporting those who have already returned to the country.
Assistance for repatriated workers includes airport reception services, financial support, and reintegration programs aimed at helping returning OFWs recover from disruptions abroad and rebuild their livelihoods.
The agency added that these efforts are intended to help returning workers safely reintegrate into their communities and reunite with their families in the Philippines.
