The board of directors and advisors of ABS-CBN has expressed strong confidence in the company’s future, reaffirming its support for management and its ongoing recovery efforts despite past setbacks.
In a statement dated April 17, the group emphasized its belief in ABS-CBN as a lasting institution and highlighted the value it continues to provide to Filipino audiences.
“We, the undersigned members of the ABS-CBN Board of Directors and Board of Advisors, believe in ABS-CBN as an institution and the value it creates for the viewing public.”
The board acknowledged the impact of losing its broadcast franchise but said the company has shown resilience by shifting its business model and focusing on content production. They also voiced support for the leadership of CEO Carlo Katigbak, expressing confidence in the company’s ability to return to profitability.
“We back the leadership team headed by CEO Carlo Katigbak and are confident in its ability to execute its recovery plan.”
Beyond business, the board underscored ABS-CBN’s broader role in Philippine society, describing it as an institution that has contributed to democracy and served generations of Filipinos.
“ABS-CBN is more than a media company. It is an institution that has served Philippine democracy and the Filipino people for generations — a mission that remains vital and very much alive.”
The statement also reaffirmed the board’s commitment to the company’s employees, artists, journalists, and the public it continues to serve.
The message was signed by several directors and advisors, including Randolf David, Emmanuel de Dios, Rafael Lopez, Martin Lopez, and Charo Santos-Concio, among others.
