After more than a decade and a half in hiding, a fugitive wanted for 26 counts of rape has finally been caught, marking a major breakthrough for law enforcement in Angeles City.
Police Station 5 of the Angeles City Police Office (ACPO) arrested the long-wanted suspect on January 23, 2026, at a commercial establishment in Barangay Cuayan, Angeles City. Authorities said the suspect had been evading arrest for over 16 years for crimes committed in April 2008.
The arrest was carried out by virtue of a warrant issued by the Regional Trial Court of Angeles City, with no bail recommended—underscoring the gravity of the charges the suspect now faces.
Acting Chief of the Philippine National Police, PLTGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., praised the successful operation, stressing that time does not erase accountability.
“Pinapakita nito na kahit gaano katagal o kalayo ang pagtakas ng isang kriminal, mahuhuli at maaabot pa rin natin ang hustisya. The law catches up with those who think they can run forever,” Nartatez said.
The operation was the result of close coordination among multiple units, including PS5 Angeles CPO, the Criminal Investigation Task Force, CIT Angeles, RIU 3, the ACPO Tracker Team, ACPO CIU, ACPO CMFC, the 302nd RMFB3, and the PRO3 Cyber Patrol Team.
According to Nartatez, the arrest reflects the effectiveness of the PNP’s Enhanced Managing Police Operations (EMPO), a key pillar under the PNP Focus Agenda.
“This success proves that with clear strategies and dedicated officers, the PNP can overcome any challenge. EMPO isn’t just a plan—it’s how we get things done on the ground to keep our communities safe,” he added.
