Alas Pilipinas quickly shook off its heartbreaking loss to Australia, delivering a dominant straight-set victory over Kyrgyzstan, 25-9, 25-11, 25-17, in the 2026 AVC Women's Volleyball Cup on Monday at the Candon City Arena.

Coming off a tough five-set defeat where they squandered a two-sets-to-one lead against Australia, the Filipinas responded with authority, controlling the match from start to finish to improve their Pool A record to 2-1.

The Philippine squad showcased its depth and firepower throughout the one-sided contest, with team captain Alyssa Valdez, Thea Gagate, and Jovelyn Gonzaga leading a balanced attack. The Filipinas also dominated at the net, converting blocks and efficient attacks into crucial points.

Alas Pilipinas wasted little time asserting its superiority, cruising through the first two sets before opening the third frame with a commanding 7-0 run. With the match firmly under control, interim head coach Shaq Delos Santos rotated his lineup, allowing the team's reserves to close out the victory.

The second unit kept the pressure on as Ara Galang, Cla Loresco, and Alyssa Solomon helped stretch the lead to double digits and prevent any comeback attempt from Kyrgyzstan. The entire match lasted just one hour.

Gagate delivered her best performance of the tournament so far, finishing with a match-high 11 points built on eight attacks, two blocks, and an ace. Gonzaga added 10 points, bouncing back strongly after a quieter outing against Australia.

Reflecting on the team's response, Gagate said they focused on correcting the mistakes from their previous match and worked together to regain their confidence.

Valdez chipped in nine points, while Ces Molina recovered from a difficult performance the day before by contributing eight points and nine excellent digs.

Niña Ytang added six points, while Loresco and setter Kyle Negrito each scored four markers as the Filipinas secured a convincing bounce-back victory and regained momentum in the tournament.
