Former Senator Bong Revilla is moving to post bail in his ongoing Sandiganbayan case, his camp confirmed.
The Sandiganbayan 3rd Division entered a “not guilty” plea on Revilla’s behalf in the malversation case linked to an alleged ₱92.8 million ghost flood control project in Pandi, Bulacan. This followed the former senator’s decision to again decline entering a plea during his arraignment. His co-accused, Juanito Mendoza, likewise submitted a “not guilty” plea.
Revilla’s spokesperson, Atty. Francesca Señga, said they plan to file a petition for bail before the court’s February 20 deadline, which would allow the former senator temporary release while the case moves forward. The petition comes amid the court’s partial approval of a motion for reconsideration, permitting Revilla and Mendoza to file motions with the Office of the Ombudsman, which must resolve them within 60 days. The Ombudsman is also tasked to submit a certification on the reglementary period and the resolution of these motions.
Meanwhile, a separate motion by Jaypee Mendoza to consolidate the cases was denied due to lack of merit.
The proceedings continue as scheduled, with the preliminary conference set for February 23–27 and the pre-trial scheduled for March 6.
