Importing vehicles into the Philippines may soon become easier and faster following the launch of an upgraded digital system by the Bureau of Customs.
The agency recently introduced its enhanced Electronic Certificate of Payment (e-CP) System, a move aimed at simplifying the process for taxpayers handling motor-vehicle import transactions. The upgrade is expected to reduce processing delays and cut down on paperwork by shifting more steps into a fully digital platform.
During the system’s launch, a message from Finance Secretary Frederick D. Go was delivered by Rolando Ligon Jr., Undersecretary of the Revenue Operations Group (ROG). In the message, Go praised the BOC for pushing forward with efforts to modernize and streamline government services.
With the new system in place, the verification of duties and taxes for imported vehicles can now be completed more quickly. Officials say this will help minimize inconvenience for taxpayers while improving overall efficiency in processing import transactions.
Authorities believe the digital upgrade will not only speed up services but also enhance transparency and convenience for individuals and businesses bringing vehicles into the country.
