Two of the country’s most prominent legal figures are set to take center stage at the 4th Arbitration Day of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Philippines on April 23, bringing renewed focus on integrity, dispute resolution, and corporate risk management.
Former Supreme Court Associate Justice Conchita Carpio-Morales and Solicitor General Darlene Berberabe will headline the event, which aims to equip business leaders, lawyers, and in-house counsel with practical tools for navigating complex legal and commercial disputes.
Organized by the International Chamber of Commerce Philippines, the forum is expected to draw executives, practitioners, and international arbitration experts for a full day of discussions on governance, enforcement, and emerging legal risks.
“We are honored to have the legal heavyweights under one roof," said Atty. Victor P. Lazatin, chairperson of the Arbitration and ADR Commission. "By pairing the judicial weight of leaders like Justice Carpio-Morales and SolGen Berberabe with international veterans like Kay-Jannes Wegner, we are providing our business community with a direct line to proven, global experience."
The program is designed for three key audiences: corporate leaders seeking risk strategies, legal practitioners looking to expand their network, and businesses aiming to strengthen contract enforcement practices from the ground up.
Kay-Jannes Wegner, a dual-qualified arbitration specialist with over 25 years of international experience, is also expected to share insights from managing cross-border disputes across Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.
“It goes beyond legal theory; it’s really about surviving in a complex market," Lazatin added. "When you have experts who have practiced in London, Singapore, and Manila, you get a 360-degree view of how to resolve disputes efficiently. Our goal is to move beyond the books and show how the right expertise can save a project from years of costly litigation."
Sessions will cover topics such as artificial intelligence in dispute resolution, corruption risk indicators, construction disputes, and the use of dispute boards, followed by an evening networking reception for attendees and speakers.
