The husband of Vice President Sara Duterte, Manases Carpio, has filed a petition before the Quezon City Regional Trial Court seeking to stop the enforcement of a subpoena issued by the House Committee on Justice.
In the petition, Carpio is asking the court to issue a 72-hour or 20-day Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) to halt the implementation of the subpoena, which was issued on March 31. He is also requesting that any evidence obtained through the subpoena be declared invalid.
The subpoena in question directs the release of Income Tax Returns tied to Carpio and Vice President Duterte, covering multiple years. The request is connected to ongoing impeachment-related proceedings being handled by the House panel.
Meanwhile, the House Committee on Justice is set to continue its impeachment proceedings against Vice President Duterte on Tuesday, April 14, as the legal challenge over the subpoena moves forward.
