Cebu Hit-And-Run Suspect Posts Bail, Vows To Face Charges

Hit-and-run suspect Sean Andrew Pajarillo has posted bail and committed to facing the case against him after appearing before the Cebu City Prosecutor’s Office on February 13, 2026. He was charged with reckless imprudence resulting in homicide following the death of 23-year-old Kingston Ralph Ko Cheng, who was struck and killed along Paseo Saturnino, Maria Luisa Road in Barangay Banilad last February 8.

Pajarillo, 21, posted ₱72,000 bail, allowing his release as the case moves toward arraignment. His legal counsel, Atty. Julito Añora Jr., said the family has assured authorities that he will comply with all legal requirements and attend future hearings.

Despite online speculation claiming Pajarillo had flown abroad after the incident, Añora dismissed these rumors, stressing that the suspect has no intention of leaving the country. He said he had already warned Pajarillo’s parents about the consequences should they attempt to take him out of the Philippines, explaining that such a move could lead to bail revocation and the issuance of an arrest warrant.

Añora emphasized that leaving the country at this point could jeopardize the case, which is now proceeding at the prosecutor level.

Lawyer Says Pajarillo Is “Remorseful” and Traumatized

Pajarillo was initially placed under hospital arrest in a private medical facility in Mandaue City, where Añora described him as visibly shaken and deeply remorseful over the fatal crash.

“Remorseful… because makita man gud nako na sige siya’g hilak sa hospital,” Añora said, recalling how the suspect repeatedly broke down during his visits.

According to the lawyer, Pajarillo has barely spoken since the early morning crash. Even during inquest proceedings, and despite questions from both him and his parents, he remained silent.

“Not a single word. Di gyud motingog. Even if iyahang papa ug mama mangutana sa iyaha, di gyud motingog,” he said. “Every time I ask him questions, mohilak man… Murag na-trauma siya.”

A Case Drawing Public Attention

The hit-and-run death of Kingston Cheng, a young businessman, has sparked strong public attention, with many calling for swift justice and accountability. Dashcam footage and witness statements have circulated widely online, fueling ongoing discussions about road safety and the responsibilities of young drivers in Cebu.

Authorities are now preparing for the next phase of the case, with prosecutors expected to finalize the information to be filed in court. Once the court sets the arraignment date, Pajarillo will be required to appear and enter a plea.

For now, Añora said the family has committed to cooperating fully with investigators, emphasizing that the suspect understands the gravity of the situation and the need to follow due process.
